Algerian citizens can apply for a Nigerian e-Visa online through the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before travel; the standard e-visa costs around USD 100 (single entry) and is typically processed within 5 business days.

What you need

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended date of arrival, with at least one blank page
  • A completed online application on the Nigeria Immigration Service e-visa portal
  • A digital passport-style photo (white background) uploaded with the application
  • A letter of invitation from a Nigerian host, company, or a hotel confirmation
  • Proof of yellow fever vaccination (International Certificate of Vaccination)
  • Evidence of sufficient funds and a return or onward ticket
  • Biometrics are not collected online; fingerprints and a photo are captured on arrival at the port of entry

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa, single entry, valid for a stay of up to 90 days, entry within 90 days of approval
  • Business e-Visa, single entry, similar validity, requires a formal invitation letter from the Nigerian business partner
  • Visa-on-arrival exists for a short list of pre-approved business travelers from other countries but does not apply to Algeria - the e-Visa route is required

How to apply online

  • Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service e-visa portal and create an applicant account
  • Fill in the online form and upload the photo, passport bio page, invitation letter and yellow fever certificate
  • Pay the visa fee online by card or another listed payment option
  • Await the e-visa approval, emailed as a PDF; print it and carry it with the original passport
  • On arrival, present the printed approval, passport and yellow fever certificate; fingerprints and a photo are captured and the passport is stamped

Fees & processing time

  • Tourist e-Visa fee: approximately USD 100 for a single entry
  • Business e-Visa fee: approximately USD 160, depending on validity requested
  • No separate courier fee since the process is entirely online; some payment gateways add a small card surcharge
  • Standard processing time: around 5 business days from a complete application, up to 2 weeks during high demand
  • No official express service is currently offered on the portal; applying early reduces the risk of delay

Tips for Algeria travelers

  • Apply at least 3-4 weeks before travel to allow for processing delays and to arrange yellow fever vaccination if not already held
  • The most common rejection reasons are an unclear or missing invitation letter and inconsistencies between the passport and the online form
  • Double-check that the destination airport or port of entry matches what's on the e-visa approval
  • Keep both a digital and printed copy of the approval letter while traveling
  • Extensions beyond 90 days must be requested at a Nigeria Immigration Service office within Nigeria before the visa expires
