What you need

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the intended period of stay.
  • Application Form: Completed electronically through the official e-visa portal.
  • Financial Proof: While not always explicitly requested during online application, it's advisable to carry sufficient funds for your stay. There is no specific minimum amount mandated by the e-visa system, but authorities may ask.
  • Accommodation Proof: Reservations for hotels or a clear invitation letter if staying with a host.
  • Return Ticket: Proof of onward or return travel is generally required.
  • Photo: A recent digital passport-sized photograph (typically 3.5 x 4.5 cm) with a white or light-colored background, facing forward.
  • Biometrics: Not required for the e-visa application process. Biometric data may be collected upon arrival at immigration if deemed necessary by officials.
  • Travel Health Insurance: Recommended, but not always a mandatory requirement for obtaining the e-visa. It's prudent to have coverage for medical emergencies.

  • Tourist e-visa:
  • Official Name: Tourist Visa

  • Maximum Stay: 21 days or 90 days, depending on the specific e-visa applied for.
  • Entry Type: Single entry.

How to apply online

  • Visit the official Armenian e-visa portal: https://evisa.mfa.am/
  • Select 'Apply for e-Visa'.
  • Choose your nationality (Algeria) and the visa type.
  • Fill out the electronic application form accurately with your personal details, passport information, and travel plans.
  • Upload your digital photograph that meets the specified requirements.
  • Pay the e-visa fee using a valid credit or debit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).
  • Submit the application. You will receive a confirmation email with your application reference number.
  • Processing: The e-visa is usually processed within 3-5 business days. Some applications may take longer.
  • Approval: Upon approval, you will receive an e-visa certificate via email. Print this document and carry it with you as it must be presented along with your passport upon arrival in Armenia.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa Fee: For a 21-day single-entry e-visa, the fee is approximately USD 15. For a 90-day single-entry e-visa, it is approximately USD 35.
  • Service Fee: No additional service fees are charged by VFS/BLS or the embassy for e-visa applications, as the process is entirely online.
  • Total Cost Estimate: The total cost will be the e-visa fee itself, e.g., USD 15 or USD 35.
  • Standard Processing Time: 3-5 business days. It is recommended to apply at least 10-15 business days before your intended travel date.
  • Express/Priority Option: Currently, there is no explicitly advertised express or priority processing option for e-visas on the official portal. Applicants are advised to apply well in advance.

Tips for Algeria travelers

  • Apply in Advance: It is highly recommended to apply for your e-visa at least 2-3 weeks before your planned departure date to account for any potential delays.
  • Common Rejection Reasons: Inaccurate or incomplete application details, invalid passport, insufficient funds (if questioned), or previous immigration violations. Ensure all information matches your passport precisely.
  • Direct Embassy Application: For e-visas, the process is solely online via the official portal. There is no need to visit an embassy or consulate unless specifically requested. Armenia does not have an embassy or consulate in Algeria, so the online portal is the primary and most efficient method.
  • Travel Advisories: Always check the latest travel advisories from your country's foreign ministry and information provided by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (https://www.mfa.am/) before traveling.
  • Extension Options: E-visas typically cannot be extended. If you need to stay longer than your e-visa permits, you will generally need to depart Armenia and apply for a new visa. For specific circumstances or long-term stays, consult with the Armenian migration authorities upon arrival or prior to travel.
