  • Return or onward flight ticket
  • Travel health insurance is strongly recommended though not formally required for visa issuance

Visa types

  • Tourist visa: single entry, valid 30 days from entry, fee approx. USD 100-120
  • Business visa: single or multiple entry, valid up to 90 days, fee approx. USD 120-150, requires a company invitation letter
  • Journalist visa: requires accreditation from the Government Media and Information Center, case-by-case processing
  • Transit visa: valid up to 72 hours, fee approx. USD 30-50, requires confirmed onward travel

How to apply online

  • Create an account on evisa.mfa.gov.af and complete the application form with passport details, travel dates, and purpose of visit
  • Upload a scanned passport copy, photo, and supporting documents (invitation letter, accommodation proof)
  • Pay the visa fee online by card in USD, or via bank transfer where card payment is unavailable
  • Standard processing takes 7-15 working days; applications are reviewed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
  • Approval is sent by email as a PDF e-visa, which should be printed and presented with your passport on arrival at Kabul International Airport or a land border
