  • Accommodation Proof: Hotel bookings, rental agreements, or a letter of invitation from a host in Sweden.
  • Return Ticket: Confirmed flight reservation or equivalent.
  • Photos: Two recent passport-sized photographs (35x45 mm) with a white background, neutral expression, and full face visible.

  • Appointment: Book an appointment online through the VFS Global website to submit your application and biometrics.
  • Interview: An interview may be required depending on the case.

Fees & processing time

  • Visa Fee: EUR 80 (adults). This is the standard Schengen visa fee. Equivalent in local currency (ALL) may be accepted, but check with VFS Global.
  • VFS Global Service Fee: Typically around EUR 30-40, payable in addition to the visa fee.
  • Total Cost Estimate: Approximately EUR 110-120 per applicant.
  • Standard Processing Time: 15 calendar days.
  • Express/Priority Option: Not typically offered for standard Schengen visa applications from Albania. Processing times are subject to the volume of applications and individual case complexity.

Tips for Albania travelers

  • Application Timing: Apply at least 4-6 weeks before your intended travel date, but no earlier than 6 months before your trip.
  • Common Rejection Reasons: Insufficient financial proof, unclear purpose of visit, lack of return ticket or accommodation, incomplete documentation, or previous immigration violations. Ensure all documents are translated into English if not already.
  • VFS Global vs. Embassy: Applying through VFS Global is generally more convenient due to their established network and appointment system. The embassy may have limited appointment availability.
  • Travel Advisories: Always check the official website of the Swedish Migration Agency (migrationsverket.se) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Albania for any current travel advisories or specific entry requirements.
  • Extension Options: Extending a Schengen visa inside Sweden is only possible in exceptional circumstances, such as a serious medical emergency or force majeure. It is not granted for simply wanting to extend a holiday. You must apply for an extension before your current visa expires.
