What you need

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand.

Visa on Arrival

  • Applicable Ports: Available at 24 international airports and 32 land checkpoints. Check the Royal Thai Embassy website for an updated list.
  • Steps:
  • Obtain a Visa on Arrival application form upon arrival at the immigration counter.
  • Fill out the form and attach required documents (passport, photo, return ticket, accommodation proof, financial proof).
  • Proceed to the Visa on Arrival counter to submit your application and pay the fee.
  • Fee: THB 2000 (approx. $55 USD). Accepted currencies are usually Thai Baht, USD, EUR, GBP. It's best to have exact change or small denominations in THB.
  • Queue Tips: Arrive early in the day or late at night to avoid peak crowds. Have all your documents and fees ready to speed up the process.

  • Total Cost Estimate: For a tourist visa applied through an Embassy/VFS, budget around $70-$100 USD including service fees. For Visa on Arrival, budget around $60-$70 USD.
  • Standard Processing Time: 5-10 working days for embassy applications. eVisa processing is typically 10-15 working days.
  • Express/Priority Option: Not always available. If offered, it typically costs an additional fee (e.g., $20-$50 USD) and reduces processing time to 2-3 working days.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers
