Tips for Afghanistan travelers

  • Apply well in advance: Start the online e-Visa application at least 2–3 weeks before planned travel to allow time for document collection and potential re-submissions.
  • Common rejection reasons for Afghan applicants: Incomplete or mismatched information, insufficient funds evidence, weak or missing invitation/hotel documentation, unclear travel purpose, passport validity below 6 months, or discrepancies between uploaded documents and the application.
  • Online vs local centers: The e-Visa is completed online via the official Syrian portal; there is no need for a separate VFS/BLS appointment for the online e-Visa; if online approval is not received, you may contact the nearest Syrian embassy/consulate for guidance.
  • Travel advisories and bilateral notes: Check Afghanistan government travel advisories and your country’s guidance on Syria; be aware of any sanctions, entry restrictions, or consular support limitations in your region.
  • Extension options inside Syria: Extensions are subject to Syrian immigration rules and are not guaranteed; if you anticipate needing a longer stay, consult the Syrian immigration authorities before your visa expiry and obtain a possible extension or re-issuance if allowed.
