Afghanistan citizens require a visa for Suriname and must apply through VFS Global, with visa types including Tourist, Business, and potentially others based on the purpose of visit.

What you need

  • Passport: Must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended stay in Suriname. It should also have at least two (2) blank pages for visa stamps.
  • Visa Application Form: Available for download from the VFS Global Suriname website or obtainable from the VFS Global center. It must be completed accurately and truthfully.
  • Financial Proof: Bank statements for the last six (6) months showing sufficient funds to cover your stay. A minimum of USD 100 per day of stay is generally advised, though specific amounts can vary. Credit card statements may also be accepted.
  • Accommodation Proof: Confirmed hotel bookings or a letter of invitation from a host in Suriname, including their contact details and proof of residency.
  • Return Ticket: A confirmed return or onward ticket to your country of origin or another destination is mandatory.
  • Photographs: Two (2) recent passport-sized photographs, measuring 35mm x 45mm, with a white background. The face should occupy 70-80% of the photo. No headwear is allowed unless for religious purposes, and even then, the face must be clearly visible.
  • Biometrics: Fingerprints and a digital photograph will be collected at the VFS Global application center. You will need to book an appointment for this.
  • Travel Health Insurance: While not always explicitly stated as mandatory for all visa types, comprehensive travel health insurance covering medical emergencies and repatriation is highly recommended.

  • Other Visa Categories: Depending on the purpose of travel, other visa categories such as student visas, work visas, or transit visas might be available. Specific requirements and fees for these will vary and should be confirmed with the VFS Global center.

How to apply

  • The official visa application for Suriname is managed by VFS Global. Afghanistan citizens must apply through the VFS Global Suriname visa application center.
  • Step 1: Visit the VFS Global Suriname website (https://www.vfsglobal.com/suriname/) to download the application form, check the detailed document checklist, and book an appointment.
  • Step 2: Complete the visa application form accurately and gather all required supporting documents as per the checklist.
  • Step 3: Attend your scheduled appointment at the VFS Global center. Submit your application form, supporting documents, passport, biometric data (fingerprints and photograph), and pay the applicable fees.
  • Step 4: Track your application status online through the VFS Global website.
  • Step 5: Collect your passport and visa from the VFS Global center once a decision is made, or it may be couriered to you if you opted for that service.

  • Express/Priority Option: An express service may be available for an additional fee, potentially reducing processing time to 5-7 working days. This should be confirmed with VFS Global.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers
