What you need

  • Passport validity: your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure from Serbia; passport must be issued within the last 10 years and have at least two blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: complete and sign the official visa application form (downloadable from the MFA Serbia site) for each applicant; include any minor consent forms if applying for a child.
  • Financial proof: provide bank statements or other proof of funds showing you can cover the stay; typical requirement is funds equivalent to at least 50 EUR per day of stay, for example 700 EUR for a 14-day visit, plus income evidence or sponsor letter if applicable.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: provide confirmed accommodation for the entire stay (hotel bookings or a formal invitation letter with host details) and a round-trip or onward ticket.
  • Photo specifications: one recent passport photo (35x45 mm / 3.5x4.5 cm) with a white background, taken within the last 6 months, showing full face; no hats or sunglasses unless medically required; photo must be clear and high quality.
  • Biometrics: biometric data collection is required as part of the visa application; submit at the Serbian embassy/consulate or an approved visa center handling Serbia visas.
  • Travel health insurance: proof of travel medical insurance valid for Serbia for the duration of stay; minimum coverage commonly required is 30,000 EUR for medical expenses and repatriation.

  • Work visa (Long stay for work): Official name – Temporary residence visa for work (long-term); Validity – duration of the employment contract (initial up to 1 year, extendable); Entry – multiple-entry; Approximate fee – 120 EUR.

Application process

  • How to apply: Sticker visa via the Serbian embassy/consulate or approved visa center in your country of residence. Use the official MFA Serbia portal for guidance: https://www.mfa.gov.rs/; check the nearest post’s instructions.
  • How to apply (general steps): 1) download and fill the visa application form; 2) collect all required documents (see section 1); 3) make an appointment if required by the post; 4) submit your application in person at the embassy/consulate or visa center; 5) pay the visa fee at submission (methods vary by post); 6) provide biometrics if requested; 7) wait for processing; 8) passport with visa stamp returned to you by pickup or courier as arranged by the post.
  • Interview: some posts may require an interview; if requested, attend with your documents and be prepared to explain travel purpose and plans.
  • How approval arrives: once approved, the visa is affixed as a stamp or sticker in your passport; the passport is returned to you by the post or in person.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers
