Pakistan Visa for Afghanistan Citizens 2026

Afghanistan citizens can apply for Pakistan e-Visa (Tourist, Business, Medical, Student, or Transit) online via https://onlinemfa.gov.pk/, with processing typically 3–5 working days and the visa issued by email for printing and presentation on arrival.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry and have at least 2 blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: No separate paper visa form; complete the online visa application at https://onlinemfa.gov.pk/; no DS-160 or VAF forms.
  • Financial proof: Proof of funds may be requested; carry bank statements or other evidence showing you can cover your stay (example: equivalent of at least USD 50 per day of stay if requested).
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Hotel booking or detailed travel itinerary and a return or onward ticket or proof of sufficient funds to purchase one.
  • Photo spec: Digital photograph in the size and quality required by the portal (background white); typical requirement is a passport-style photo sized about 35x45 mm (2x2 inches) with white background; ensure file meets portal requirements for upload.
  • Biometrics: Biometrics is not normally required for the online e-Visa; if requested, you will be directed to attend a Visa Application Centre for biometrics.
  • Travel health insurance: Recommended but not mandatory; carry proof of coverage for your trip.

Visa types

  • Tourist e-Visa: Official name Tourist e-Visa; Validity 6 months from issue; Max stay per visit 30 days; Entries Multiple; Approx fee USD 60 (PKR ~18,000).
  • Business e-Visa: Official name Business e-Visa; Validity 12 months; Max stay per visit 90 days; Entries Multiple; Approx fee USD 100 (PKR ~30,000).
  • Medical e-Visa: Official name Medical e-Visa; Validity 3 months; Max stay per visit 30 days; Entry Single; Approx fee USD 60 (PKR ~18,000).
  • Student e-Visa: Official name Student e-Visa; Validity up to 12 months to 5 years depending on course; Max stay per visit aligned with study period; Entries Multiple; Approx fee USD 120 (PKR ~36,000).
  • Transit e-Visa: Official name Transit e-Visa; Validity 3–7 days; Max stay 7 days; Entry Single; Approx fee USD 20 (PKR ~6,000).

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: Go to https://onlinemfa.gov.pk/ and create an account; complete the online application form with your personal, passport and travel details.
  • Upload documents: Scan of passport bio page, recent photograph, and any supporting documents required for your visa type (invitation letter for business, medical certificate if applicable, admission letter for student, etc.).
  • Pay the visa fee: Pay the visa fee online using the options shown on the portal (amount varies by category; USD amounts are shown in the application; local currency PKR converted at the time of payment).
  • Submit and wait: After submission you will receive a confirmation and tracking; processing time is typically 3–5 working days; express service may be available for an additional fee.
  • Approval delivery: Approved e-Visa is emailed to the applicant; you should print a copy and carry it; the e-Visa is linked to your passport and must be presented on arrival.

  • Visa fee by category (approximate): Tourist USD 60 (PKR ~18,000); Business USD 100 (PKR ~30,000); Medical USD 60 (PKR ~18,000); Student USD 120 (PKR ~36,000); Transit USD 20 (PKR ~6,000).
  • VFS/BLS service fee: Not applicable for e-Visa; all processing is online via the official portal.
  • Total cost estimate: Sum of the above depending on visa type; include any online processing or courier fees as applicable per portal.
  • Standard processing time: 3–5 working days after submission.
  • Express/priority option: Available for some applications for an additional fee; delivery around 24 hours in some cases; exact fee shown during application.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers

  • Start well in advance: Apply at least 14–21 days before travel; allow more time during peak consular periods.
  • Common rejection reasons for Afghanistan applicants: Incomplete application or documents, passport validity less than 6 months, discrepancies between details in passport and application, missing invitation letters for business, or insufficient funds when requested.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: For e-Visa, use the official online portal; there is no separate VFS/BLS process for the standard e-Visa; biometrics, if required, would be done through the embassy/ VAC following notice.
  • Travel advisories: Check current travel advisories from your government and Pakistan MOFA; ensure you are aware of security conditions, border restrictions, and any bilateral notes.
  • Extensions inside Pakistan: If you hold a tourist or business visa, extensions may be possible through the Pakistan Immigration authorities; extensions typically require applying before expiry and are subject to approval; durations vary by case.
