Tips for Afghanistan travelers

  • Plan well in advance: Apply at least 7–14 days before travel to accommodate processing delays.
  • Common rejection reasons specific to Afghanistan applicants: Passport validity less than 6 months, insufficient funds, inconsistencies in personal data, missing required documents, or mismatch with travel purpose.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy: For Oman e-visa, use the official online portal; no separate VFS/BLS submission is required unless specifically advised by MOFA.
  • Travel advisories: Check both Afghanistan and Oman government travel advisories prior to travel; ensure you meet entry requirements and have valid documentation.
  • Extension options inside Oman: Some visa types may be extendable on arrival through Oman authorities; extensions are not guaranteed and typically require visiting the Royal Oman Police (ROP) or relevant MOFA offices and paying applicable fees. Always verify eligibility and process before traveling.
