What you need

  • Transit/other: Transit visa options exist for brief stops (often around 3 days); fee around USD 15–25 depending on mission.

Application process

  • e-Visa/eTA How to apply online: go to https://www.nepalimmigration.gov.np/, select e-Visa, create an account, enter passport details, upload a recent photo and scanned passport bio-page, choose Tourist visa type (15/30/90 days), pay the visa fee by credit/debit card, and receive an electronic visa approval by email. Print the e-Visa approval and present it on arrival. Processing time is typically 3–5 business days for online applications.
  • Visa on arrival: at Tribhuvan International Airport (Kathmandu) or designated land border points. Steps: arrive, go to the visa on arrival counter, present passport, one passport photo, completed Arrival Visa Form (if required), and pay the visa fee in USD or NPR. After payment, proceed to immigration with your documents and the visa will be stamped/entered. Wait times vary by queue; have ready cash in USD or NPR to speed the process.
