  • Total cost estimate: USD 60–150 depending on visa type; additional payment processor charges may apply.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers

  • When to apply: At least 3–4 weeks before travel; ideally 6–8 weeks to accommodate potential delays or document gaps.
  • Common rejection reasons (Afghanistan applicants): Incomplete or inconsistent documentation; insufficient funds; passport validity under 6 months or insufficient blank pages; mismatched travel history or purpose; prior visa refusals without clear explanation.
  • VFS/BLS vs direct embassy application: Ecuadorian e-visa is processed online via the official portal; use the online system first; consular visits may be required for biometrics or special cases, as advised on the official site.
  • Travel advisories or bilateral notes: Always check the official Ecuador MFA site for the latest entry rules and any advisories; verify with your country’s travel advisory, as security or health requirements can change.
  • Extension options inside Ecuador: Extensions may be possible for tourism stays by applying with the immigration authority before your visa expires; typical extension considerations include proof of funds, ongoing travel plans, and compliance with prior visa conditions; approvals are not guaranteed and depend on Ecuadorian authorities.
