Afghan citizens can apply for an e-visa to DR Congo online via ambardc.org; Tourist e-visa is valid for 90 days with a maximum stay of 30 days per visit, fee from USD 100, processing time 2–5 business days.

What you need

  • Passport validity: Passport must be valid for at least 6 months from date of entry and have at least 2 blank visa pages.
  • Specific forms: The DR Congo e-visa application is completed entirely online on ambardc.org; no prior DS-160 or equivalent form is required for this process.
  • Financial proof: There is no fixed bank statement requirement for submission; you should demonstrate sufficient funds for your stay. A common guideline is funds equivalent to at least USD 50 per day of stay.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or invitation letter) and a return or onward ticket is recommended and may be checked on entry.
  • Photo and document specs: Two recent passport photos (35x45 mm) with a white background; digital uploads in JPEG format, each file under 300 KB; passport scan page (biographical data page) in PDF/JPEG.
  • Biometrics: Biometric data may be collected as part of the online submission or at a visa collection center; follow the on screen prompts and provide a clear digital photo if requested.
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory but strongly recommended; carry proof of travel health insurance covering your stay in DR Congo.
  • Vaccinations: Yellow fever vaccination certificate is strongly recommended and may be requested; carry the International Certificate of Vaccination if available.

  • Transit e-visa (Transit Visa, e-Visa): Not listed as available via e-visa; check with the official portal for any alternatives.

How to apply online

  • Fee (local + USD): Tourist e-visa total around USD 115 (USD 100 government fee + USD 15 service fee); Business e-visa total around USD 220 (USD 200 government fee + USD 20 service fee).
  • Processing time: Standard processing is typically 2–5 working days; expedited/express processing may be offered for an additional fee (look for options on the portal).
  • How approval arrives: After processing, you will receive the e-visa document by email as a PDF and/or it will be available to download from the portal; print the e-visa and carry it on arrival.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers
