What you need

  • Passport validity: passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry and have at least 2 blank pages.
  • Specific forms: no DS-160; use the Cameroon e-visa online portal at prc.cm; create an account and complete the online application.
  • Financial proof: recent bank statements showing available funds equivalent to at least USD 1,000 for the intended stay (typical minimum funds requirement); ensure statements cover the last 3 months.
  • Accommodation and return ticket: hotel booking confirmations or proof of hosting in Cameroon; round-trip flight booking or onward travel itinerary.
  • Photo spec: upload a recent passport-style photo (35 mm x 45 mm) with a white background, full face visible, no hats or sunglasses; image must meet the portal’s size requirements.
  • Biometrics: not required to submit biometrics at the time of e-visa application; biometric checks may occur at the port of entry if requested by immigration.
  • Travel health insurance: recommended to have valid travel health insurance covering the duration of stay; not mandatory for e-visa approval.

  • Student visa (e-visa): Official name Student visa (e-visa); validity 1 year (with multiple entries); max stay per entry typically 90 days; approximate fee 100 USD (about 65,000 XAF).
  • Work visa (e-visa): Official name Work visa (e-visa); validity 1 year (with multiple entries); max stay per entry typically 90 days; approximate fee 150 USD (about 97,500 XAF).
  • Transit/other categories (if offered): Official names and fees vary; check during application; all are subject to Cameroon e-visa policy and Afghanistan eligibility.

How to apply online

  • How to apply online: go to the official portal https://www.prc.cm/ and log in or create a new account.
  • Steps: select Visa Type (Tourist or Business or Student or Work), fill applicant details, upload required documents, pay the visa fee online, submit the application.
  • Required documents to upload: scanned data page of passport, current passport photo, hotel booking or invitation letter (for business), proof of funds, round-trip flight details, and supporting documents as requested by visa type (e.g., invitation letter from Cameroonian host for business).
  • Fee payment: pay online by international card; amounts shown in USD and converted to XAF as per the portal rate.
  • Processing time: standard processing typically 3–5 working days; express/priority options may be available with an additional fee; you will receive the e-visa by email if approved.
  • How approval arrives: an electronic visa letter (PDF) will be sent to the email registered on the account; print a copy to carry to Cameroon.
  • At border: present your printed e-visa, passport, and other required documents; immigration officers may verify documents and may request additional information.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers

  • How far in advance to apply: start the e-visa application at least 2–3 weeks before travel to account for processing and potential document requests.
