  • Accommodation and return ticket: Provide proof of accommodation (hotel bookings or invitation letter) and a return or onward ticket if available.
  • Photo spec: Digital passport-style photo uploaded to the online form: JPEG format, size 35x45 mm, white background, file size under 500 KB, head centered and facing the camera.
  • Biometrics: Not required as a separate in-person biometrics submission for the e-visa; data is supplied online (including the uploaded photo).
  • Travel health insurance: Not mandatory but strongly recommended; ensure coverage for Benin for the duration of your stay and carry proof if asked by border officials.

  • Transit/other categories: Benin’s e-visa program primarily offers Tourist and Business categories online; other categories may require embassy processing.

How to apply online

  • Pay the visa fee: Pay online with an international credit or debit card; amounts shown will be in USD on the portal (fees may be converted to local currency by your bank). No separate VFS/BLS service fee is charged for online e-visas.
  • Processing time and decision: Standard processing is typically 3–5 working days; you will receive a notification by email or within the portal when the decision is made; you can download or print the approval/authorization from the portal.
  • Arrival: Print the e-visa approval page and carry it with your passport; present the e-visa approval to Benin border control on arrival at designated entry points (e.g., Cotonou Cadjehoun International Airport and other entry points).
  • Entry points: The online e-visa is valid for entry at Benin international airports and designated border posts; verify current entry points on the official portal before travel.

Tips for Afghanistan travelers
