Tips for Afghanistan travelers

  • Apply well in advance: Due to the requirement to travel to Islamabad, Pakistan, for visa application and collection, it is highly recommended to apply at least 2 to 3 months before your intended travel date to account for travel time, embassy procedures, and unforeseen delays.
  • Common rejection reasons: Common reasons for visa rejection include insufficient financial proof, lack of a clear and convincing travel purpose, incomplete documentation, inconsistencies in application details, or previous immigration violations in any country. Ensure all documents are genuine and consistent.
  • Direct embassy application: For Afghan citizens, visa applications are handled directly by the Embassy of Belarus in Islamabad, Pakistan. There are no VFS Global or BLS International service centers involved.
  • Travel advisories: Always check the latest travel advisories issued by your own government and the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (www.mfa.gov.by) regarding travel restrictions or specific entry requirements before planning your trip.
  • Visa extension options: If you wish to extend your stay in Belarus, you must apply to the Department of Citizenship and Migration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus before your current visa expires. Extensions are granted only for valid and documented reasons (e.g., medical emergency, family circumstances, continuation of study/work). Overstaying your visa is a serious offense.
